Did you register to vote?

Whether you have a candidate you like, detest all of your options, or simply have yet to choose, the person we collectively select to serve as our next president is going to influence policy that will directly impact your own earning potential and the profitability of your gym if you operate a facility similar to CSP. You're in no position to bitch and moan about the way small business owners may be screwed if you fail to show up and participate in the election process on Tuesday, November 8th.

Assuming there's still time to do so in your state, go ahead and register today.

I'm excited to share some great articles and blog posts this week, starting with my blog discussing work-life balance:

My Friday FOUR

Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage CSP - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:

  • Study Finds Work-Life Balance Could be a Matter of Life and Death: Here's an entirely different take on work-life balance - the health implications that come with an imbalance leading in the direction of work. This piece discusses the correlation between obesity and high-stress jobs. This is a major problem considering 70% of Americans admit to struggling to find a work-life balance.
  • How to Build a $100M Brand People Love: The first sentence of this article pulled me in: "Beautiful, compelling products emerge from beautiful, compelling cultures." Replace the word "product" with "service experiences," and you've got a message that applies to your gym. Eric Ryan, the CEO of Method, shares six great ideas that he encourages people to steal from his own massively successful company.
  • Cutting Through The Clutter: This 80-word post by Seth Godin is a nice illustration of the fact that you don't need to write a ton to deliver an important message. This will remind you that the quality of your product or service is far more important than the noisy way you are going about marketing it.
  • How to Teach Workshops to Leverage Your Skill-Set: It feels like just yesterday that Tony Gentilcore and Dean Somerset were giving their Complete Hip & Shoulder Workshop a test run here at CSP. Fast forward a few years and they've now presented this material on multiple continents and in a dozen or so states. As they find themselves on the cusp of releasing a recorded copy of this event, Dean found some time to explain exactly how they went about creating their program, and why you could do the same if you have a unique and valuable skill-set or knowledge.

Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend!
