Friday 4 - Fine-Tune Your FB Ads, Learn From Elon Musk, and More: 1/13/17

Published: Fri, 01/13/17

Let's start this week's Friday 4 with a look at a blog I published yesterday:
My Friday FOUR

Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage CSP - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
  • Six Things to Consider Before Partnering Up: Read this piece closely before you choose to partner up with a fellow personal trainer to start your gym or accept financing from a client who "just wants to see you fulfill your dream of opening a facility." My business partner Eric and I can put a check mark next to just about every recommendation on this list.
  • Screw "Personal Branding": My Top Three Social Media Resolutions for 2017: I am of the mentality that it is best for your personal brand and/or business to avoid discussing hot-button topics such as politics or religion on social media platforms. However, the author of this post makes a very rational case for standing behind your beliefs in a public forum heading in to the new year. I especially liked this point: "Branding injects products with human qualities to make them more relatable. Well, guess what, human—you’ve already got human qualities." This being said, I'm going to stick with my policy and limit my "relatable" posts to pictures of my cute kids!
  • Elon Musk Takes Customer Complaint on Twitter from Idea to Execution in 6 Days: We don't all have the resources at our fingertips that Mr. Musk does, but we can absolutely make our customers feel heard. People don't expect you to overhaul your entire model instantaneously, but they want to know that you're listening and taking their feedback seriously. Take a page out of the Tesla founder's book and take immediate action the next time you receive valuable feedback that is within your means to address.
  • Facebook Ad Specs & Image Sizes (Updated for 2017): According to Buffer.com, 91% of advertisers invested in Facebook marketing in 2016. With 1.18 billion people using the social media platform every single day, I'd imagine it would be a good idea for you and your business to do the same. This blog post will assist you in crafting ads that are guaranteed to maximize the effectiveness of your promotional dollars spent.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend!
