Let's start this edition of the Friday-4 with the blog I've published on my site this
week: - Save Money on Your Next Gym Lease With This Simple Tip - It is easy to get caught up in the excitement of signing a lease without considering the implications that its structure may have on your negotiation strategy when it comes time to
renew. This piece outlines a single tip that could save you some money a few years down the road.
My Friday FOUR
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness.
Enjoy: - 5 Content Marketing Lessons from SNL in the Age of Trump - Can you say with certainty that you are aware of (and understand)
the key issues that your customers are concerning themselves with these days? This article makes a case for tackling polarizing subjects and taking a firm stand on one side of the issue. Food for thought: "Sometimes it's better to speak passionately to the people who are most enamored with your brand, even at the risk of not appealing to lots of other people."
- Social Media Strategy For Gyms (podcast) - I especially enjoyed the material from the hosts of this podcast because they walk the walk of gym ownership. There are plenty of "fitness business podcasts" to choose from, but few pull lessons from 5+ years of gym ownership experience the way these guys do. Check this one out for a solid hour of important tips that will help you craft a social media strategy for your gym that will be seen as both authentic and
inspiring.
- Elon Musk Is Really Boring - This
article didn't change the way I run my business. Instead, it reinforced why I find Elon Musk to be such a fascinating individual. This being said, if Mr. Musk successfully creates a fast and cost-effective tunnel-drilling technology, and we suddenly have access to some sort of subterranean transit system, CSP just may suddenly become more accessible than it ever was before to people from far outside of Massachusetts. Read this one simply because it is
interesting.
- 5 Skills Your Sales Team Needs Now - If
you identify as either a personal trainer or a strength coach, you are likely a sales team of one. Saying "I just want to focus on what I'm best at and leave the business stuff to someone else" is lazy, and a guarantee that you'll never accumulate the roster of clients you desire. Take some time to brush up on each of these five skills, with a particular emphasis on points 1, 2 and 5.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy.
More importantly, have a great weekend!
- Pete
