Let's start this week's Friday-4 with a podcast I recorded on Wednesday: - Strength Faction Podcast: Ep. 10 - I spent some time chatting with my buddy Todd Bumgardner earlier this week and
we touched on topics ranging from content creation to infusing your true personality into your business-related social media strategy. This was an entertaining 35-min conversation.
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently
about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy: - I Was An Anxious, Awkward Perfectionist - Until I started Freelancing - This author did a great job in illustrating the importance of
accepting early failures and establishing boundaries with your personal schedule as an entrepreneur. I was both surprised and pleased to see the mention of paying estimated quarterly taxes and issuing 1099's to independent contractors in this post. These two tasks are easily overlooked by self employed fitness professionals.
- The Downside of Work-Life Balance - This concept of work-life balance came to the
forefront for me in 2014 when my first son was born. Until that point, there was no problem with burning the candle at both ends to allow for me to maintain the friends, health, and career components of my life simultaneously. Now that I am accountable to more people than myself, I can relate to the "four burners theory" that James Clear has outlined. I am officially in a stage in my life where work and family are taking priority over health and friends. This article was a nice reminder that
we're all dealing with similar issues.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend!
- Pete
