Let's start this week's Friday-4 with my first ever appearance sharing fitness business
insights on a television show: - Small Business Revolution - Season 2 - Episode 6 - Earlier this spring I had the opportunity to travel to the Philadelphia area to share business
consulting advice for a boxing and MMA facility alongside well known Shark Tank personality, Robert Herjavec. The experience was great, and I'm thrilled with the final product (with the exception of the brutal pronunciation of my last name during my introduction).
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think
differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy: - How I Built This - Starbucks: Howard Schultz - If you are a brick and mortar entrepreneur,
you owe it to yourself to listen to this podcast where Howard Schultz tells the story of Starbucks. Get an inside look at everything from the moment he discovered the opportunity, to the behemoth of a company that Starbucks is today. Definitely worth an hour of your time.
- 10 Leadership Lessons from Alexis Ohanian - I was initially drawn to this post because Reddit Co-Founder, Alexis Ohanian, personal trains several days a week at CSP's Florida facility. I found myself nodding my head in approval on just about every point once I got into the material. If you own a new and growing fitness facility, I implore you to pay extra close attention to
lesson number seven regarding learning how and when to say "no" to new opportunities. If you don't, you'll soon find yourself operating a bunch of satellite facilities that you don't want or need simply because you got excited about saying that you have multiple locations.
- How to Find
the Right Consulting Firm to Grow Your Business - I love seeing people with a fitness background making an impact on the world of business as a whole, and Adam Bornstein continues to deliver on this front. The questions he is encouraging business owners to ask of themselves as they seek consulting services are extremely similar to those that people should ask of themselves as they search for fitness instruction services. If you own a gym, you should be prepared to answer these
questions from potential clients so that you can knock your pitch out of the park and ensure that you're actually the perfect service provider to help.
- 6 Expert Tips to Running Your Instagram Like a Professional Influencer - The bulk of your clients are probably wasting time scrolling through their Instagram feed throughout the day. Are you showing up in their search? If not, get on there, and you can conceptualize your strategy by starting with the six tips
outlined here. I have recently begun to apply the rule of consistency as I look to build my personal following with a standardized posting frequency. Results have been good thus far.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend!
- Pete
