Cheers to another work week in the rearview mirror. I've lined up some good material to share with
you today.
I hope you enjoy it.
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness.
Enjoy: - Dealing With Sexual Harassment When Your Company is Too Small to Have HR - 70% of the CEO’s surveyed for this Harvard Business Review article said that they are more concerned today about sexual harassment in the workplace than they were a year ago. I happen to fall into the same category, as it is very much on my radar thanks to current events in entertainment and politics. This piece does a nice job of illustrating a practical approach to managing workplace culture and systemizing
responses to potential harassment claims if you manage a business that isn’t large enough to justify employing an HR team.
- Where Did You Go to School? - I’m pleased to have an exhausting week of intern candidate evaluation behind me. After considering roughly 100 application submissions, I find myself wondering if I’ve managed to track down “the right” 15 to interview next week. I’m a big fan of saying that we hire people as opposed to resumes at CSP, and this blog from Seth Godin reinforced that mentality. Hopefully I didn’t miss out on too
many gems during the resume review stage in this laborious process.
- Building A Story
Brand - I occasionally like to share a recommended book here in my Friday 4. This one, by Donald Miller, was both quick and impactful. If you read it, you'll likely come to realize that you've been going about things all wrong as it relates to positioning, brand strategy, and website design. I read the whole thing on a flight from London to Boston and then promptly returned home to give my personal website a redesign.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend!
- Pete
