Here's some recommended reading (and listening) to either
wrap up your week, or kick off your weekend.
Let's kick things off with a revent blog from my site:
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think
differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- Facebook and Instagram Just Introduced a Time-Tracking Feature - I don't find it surprising that this new feature has been available on these two social media platforms for an entire month (or more) and this week is the first I am hearing about it. The people at Facebook are obviously far
less interested in cutting back your screen time on the newsfeed than they are in checking the box that says "look, we have this feature available so we obviously care!"
- 5 Online Courses Every Entrepreneur Should Take - Are you kicking around the idea of opening a gym or launching a fitness tech startup? If so, there are some intriguing course descriptions in this list that would apply to you. I was especially pleased to see my alma mater, Babson College,
featured in this list.
- The Benefits of Hiring Outside of Your Industry - This one resonated with me because I was an industry outsider at the moment we opened Cressey
Sports Performance in 2007. Without experience coaching athletes or selling fitness instruction services, I was able to bring something new to the thinking behind how we operated and scaled our business.
- Case Study: Can You Fix a Toxic Culture Without Firing People? - I think that many of you who are working in mature businesses will find bits and pieces of this story that you will be able to relate to. You will ultimately have to come to a conclusion on your own as to whether or not culture can be fixed without firing toxic employees, as there is no right answer in this case.
Make
sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend!
