Here's some recommended reading to either wrap up your
week, or kick off your weekend.
Let's kick things off with a blog I published yesterday:
- 10 Considerations as You Plan to Host Your First Seminar - Earlier this week I published an Instagram post discussing the many headaches associated with hosting a seminar in the aftermath of our 7th annual fall event. I was pleasantly surprised by the high engagement with this discussion, and decided to go into more detail in a blog post. Here are a few reminders for those of you who are considering opening your gym doors for a seminar.
My
Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos: How I Built an Empire (Podcast) - I'm always interested in hearing founders tell the story of their business origins, and Jeff Bezos didn't disappoint here. He went out of his way
to emphasize the importance of "finding new ways to delight our customers" four different times during this interview...maybe we should all add this objective to the top of our to-do lists moving forward?
- I Ran 4 Experiments to Break My Social Media Addiction. Here's What Worked - I really enjoyed this post because the author didn't use her platform as a place to bash excessive social media use. Instead, she explained four extremely specific experiments she tried, highlighted the pros and cons of each, and left it up to the readers to come to conclusions of their own regarding what would work for them if considering a social
media overhaul.
- How to Disconnect From 'Always On' Work Culture - There were a couple of simple yet effective strategies highlighted in this piece that will help
those of you who feel tied to your phone out of fear for missing an important message from a colleague while off the clock. Each of these solutions involves employing easily used features of platforms such as Google Calendar and Apple's IOS 12.
- Atomic Habits (Book) - James Clear knocked it out of the park with his first book. This one was an easy
read featuring actionable and logical solutions to improving your day-to-day habits in both a personal and professional realm. If you enjoyed The Power of Habit by Duhigg, you'll love this one.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend!
