Here's some recommended reading to either wrap up your week, or kick off your weekend.
Let's kick things off with a blog I published this week on my own website:
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- Can't Afford an MBA? Read These 6 Books to Educate Yourself Instead - Somewhat unrelated story: In 2018 I added a page to my website titled "Bookshelf," featuring a list of books read in my pursuit of 24 total for the year. I ended up making it through 20 and eventually pulled the page down in the second half of December
partially because I was ready to move on to 2019, and partially because I thought no one was listening. I was then pleasantly surprised to see that some people did care, as I received DM's on Twitter and Instagram asking about where it went, and a handful of similar emails. Four of the six books listed in this article happened to be on my list, and this could be a good place to start as you prepare your reading list for the rest of 2019.
- How to Raise Your Rates for 2019 Without Losing Clients - This was a simple and clear explanation about how you can raise your training rates beginning as soon as today. The author emphasizes the importance of remaining assertive, yet polite, and offers a useful sample email so that
you can see the approach in action.
- How I Built This - SoulCycle - I'm a real sucker for founder's stories, and this podcast did not disappoint. If you've opened a gym of your own, you'll find that the early days of SoulCycle were eerily reminiscent of your own experiences on things ranging from location selection, to
pricing strategy, and everything in between.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend!
- Pete
