Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- Does Vertical Video Make a Difference? - The short answer to the question in this post title is "yes." The people from Buffer did a nice job of illustrating why vertical video is no longer considered a faux pas, including some clear and easily readable infographic visuals.
- Stressed at Work? Mentoring a Colleague Could Help - Turns out you can reduce anxiety and make your job feel more meaningful simply by taking an interest in assisting a colleague through the professional development process. Check out this article describing a fascinating
mentorship study that the people at the Harvard Business Review did with police forces in England and Wales.
- Reading One Book a Week Won't Make You Successful - There are more than a few people in the fitness industry who like to flaunt their extensive list of annual reads, sometimes including more than 100 books. This is something I can't relate to because I neither have the time or the bandwidth necessary to consume that much
material in a manner that would bring any value to me, my readers, or the business I operate. I thought that this author did a nice job of attacking the process of identifying what reading material makes sense for you. I especially liked this quote: “In the case of good books, the point is not to see how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you.”
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend!
