I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July.
Here's some recommended reading to wrap up your abbreviated work week.
Let's start things off with a blog I published this week on my own website:
- Gym Owner Musings - Installment #15 - This week I rolled out a fresh batch of "musings" covering topics including sales strategy, getting buy-in from clients, and managing grumpy employees.
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- The CMO Podcast - While there is no shortage of fantastic business books on the shelf at Barnes & Noble these days, I find is surprisingly difficult to track down strong business podcasts. The CMO Podcast has been my solution to that problem during the past week or so, with the first ten episodes all
being solid. While the messaging in this production is geared toward businesses that are bigger than your typical fitness operation, there is still a ton of gold to be consumed here.
- Why Messaging Is the Future of Market Research - According to this article, only 23% of emails sent from businesses are ever opened. That's a concerning number for gym owners and event organizers alike. We count on feedback from a Survey Monkey platform to adjust our game plan for the CSP Fall Mentorship each year, so I've got
some thinking to do surrounding our approach to feedback collection moving forward based on the insights here.
- 3 Reasons New Coaches and Consultants Fail - This HBR article is immensely valuable to the new gym owners and struggling online fitness coaches out there. Stop what you're doing and take this one in if you fall into either of these two categories.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
- Pete
