Here's some recommended reading to either wrap up your week, or kick off your weekend.
Let's start things off with a blog I published on my own website:
- Is Authenticity Overrated? - Seth Godin casually questioned the importance of authenticity during a recent keynote, which got me to thinking about how this applies to gym owners who are interested in scaling their operation.
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- Why Does This CEO Insist on Taking Job Candidates Out For Breakfast? - It's difficult to anticipate exactly how a job candidate will react to adversity, but this executive crafted a fascinating way of manufacturing scenarios that will expose a person's true colors without them ever realizing
it. Sadly, he just gave away his secret weapon thanks to this post. You, however, can put the trick to work immediately.
- Stewarding Your Own Potential (Podcast) - I've yet to come across messaging on leadership from people in the Chic-Fil-A organization that didn't resonate with me. This episode of the EntreLeadership podcast was packed with more great insights from Mark Miller, their VP of
High-Performance Leadership.
- How to Look and Sound Confident During a Presentation - Coaching and presenting skills go hand-in-hand. This HBR article brings some important tips to the table for anyone who routinely stands in front of a group training session and needs the ability to command
attention and establish confidence in the athletes.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
- Pete
