Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance - as always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- 5 Things to Do When a Client Says They Can't Afford You - Here's an excuse we've all run across on many occasions. This response shouldn't stop you dead in your selling tracks. Check out these easy tactics you can employ immediately to hopefully
jump this hurdle in the sales process.
- This 6-Word Phrase Will Instantly Make Your Feedback More Effective - While I don't love the exact six-word phrase suggested in this piece, I 100% agree with the concept. Thankfully, the phrase can easily be re-worded into something that I'd be a
little bit more comfortable delivering and still offer the same desired result. This is a strong article if you often find that your feedback to employees is occasionally misconstrued.
- Only the Hits - We all need to remind ourselves from time to time that perfection is unattainable, and putting slightly flawed content/products/services out into the market is better than spending exhausting hours agonizing and second-guessing our work. Seth Godin articulates this better than I in this quick read.
- What Aircraft Crews Know About Managing High-Pressure Situations - I will never encounter a high-stress situation on the level of a mid-air technical malfunction in an aircraft while running a gym. This being said, I
will make a habit of empowering young coaches to function in leadership roles, and more than a few of them will freeze up in times of confusion and stress. This Harvard Business Review article draws some valuable leadership conclusions from observing flight crews in action that can be immediately applied within a workplace setting (gyms included).
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
