Welcome to the weekend. Here are four pieces of content to either wrap up your work week, or kick off your much deserved down time.
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- 4 Steps to Growing Your Business Now - I admittedly avoid sharing fitness-specific content in my weekly list, but I consider it an acceptable loophole when a fitness personality creates great material for a publication that is geared toward business-minded individuals in
general. It is for this reason that I am excited to share this Entrepreneur.com piece written by my buddy Adam Bornstein. When Adam outlines a four-step plan that will help you to "adapt your business, provide clarity, and spark new growth," you can be sure he's going to deliver.
- The Generosity of Scars with Scott Mann (podcast) - Did you read and enjoy Extreme
Ownership and/or The Dichotomy of Leadership? Do you enjoy the work of Jocko Willink or any other military-style leadership educators? If you answered yes at any point so far, you're 100% going to like Scott Mann's approach as outlined in this fascinating EntreLeadership podcast interview.
- Why Power Couples Need to Talk More About Power - I speak from experience when I say that it's easy to get swept up in the fascination with your own career as your spouse sits across the table wondering when you're going to ask
how her work day went. There was a time when I routinely unknowingly commandeered dinner conversation in my house, and it understandably wore on my wife's patience. I'm thankful that she explained her feelings to me instead of bottling them up and resenting my bad habits. We've since found a comfortable middle ground where we both offer the opportunity to put work discussions on the table when interested, and pivot into banter with our rambunctious children when not. This article is an
important read if you and your spouse have diverging professional ambitions.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
- Pete
