Welcome to the weekend. Here are four pieces of content to either wrap up your work week, or kick off your much deserved down time.
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- NFL Head Coaches Are Getting Younger. What Can Organizations Learn? - This was an interesting read tackling the question of how much impact adding youth to your leadership team has on
an organization, both in the NFL, and in "the real world." Are younger employees more productive? More creative? More engaged with innovation? There are answers in here, many of which may contradict your expectations.
- Google's Top Productivity Expert Says This Is How You Should Spend Your Day - Everyone seems to have a "go-to" time-management hack or trusted guru these days. Some work for me, while others feel useless. The sheer
volume of voices chiming in, however, will not prompt me to stop searching for systems to improve my productivity. I especially valued the third suggestion in this three-point list.
- The Gym of the Future Will be Virtual, Gamified, and Totally Immersive - Are you ready to begin competing with the local grocery store, pharmacy, or even Lululemon for gym clients in the near future? This article says it's coming.
Actually, this article says it's already here. Time to make sure that you have your finger on the pulse of the local fitness landscape, or you might find your gym underpopulated and feeling behind the times.
- Great Leaders Understand Why Small Gestures Matter - You already know this, but genuinely caring about the people you work with is imperative if you want your gym to stay open beyond lease number one. I enjoyed this HBR article so much that I
immediately sent it to my entire team as CSP Massachusetts earlier this week. Hopefully it resonates with you as well.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
- Pete
