Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- Marketing Made Simple (book) - I picked this one up because Building a Story Brand by Donald Miller was one of my favorite business books in recent years. I'm pleased to report that I found this one to be similarly informative. There is a little bit of
overlap between the two texts, but I interpret that as a reminder that things worth saying more than once are things that I need to be making note of. This is a quick read.
- The Science of the Deal (podcast) - I'm a huge fan of Adam Grant's work,
including both podcasts and books. This episode of his show, Work Life, specifically touches on the art of negotiation. The lessons shared were equal parts Getting to Yes (a classic), and Never Split the Difference (a new negotiation classic in my eyes). Give this one a listen if you're going to find yourself renegotiating a gym lease or employee contract once you come out of this strange time.
- Moods and Actions - I've had more than enough of people declaring on social media that I'm an idiot if I don't improve myself during this self-quarantine. There are good and bad approaches to inspiring people to take action of this nature, and the aforementioned approach
sucks. This being said, I think Seth Godin nailed the delivery of the exact same message in this blog post.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
