Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- How to Stay Virtually Connected on Your Own Terms - This article is best summarized in the following five words: Think more and react less. This being said, the author does a nice job of illustrating exactly how to best go about
freeing up your mind to think creatively in our overly connected world.
- Authenticity Is a Double-Edged Sword (Podcast) - I've yet to come
across an episode of Adam Grant's podcast that fails to capture my attention, and this one in particular really resonated with me. There's a big problem in the fitness space with grumpy individuals spewing negativity all over our news feeds with the mindset that it is acceptable because they're "just being authentic." This episode introduced me to one of my new favorite quotes, from David Sedaris: "Be yourself, unless 'yourself' is an asshole.
- 5 Things Motherhood Taught Me About Focusing My Hustle - I should first note that the term "parenthood" can easily replace "motherhood" in this article title. I would strongly recommend this quick read to anyone who has a side project that
they've always wanted to start but just can't seem to find the time. There are some good actionable and suggestions in here.
- 3 Ways to Make Your Writing Clearer - I'm all for finding resources that both help to clean up my current writing style, and minimize the time I ultimately need to spend tinkering with the material before hitting the publish button. This Harvard Business Review
article successfully delivered on both fronts.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
