Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- The Downside of Work-Life Balance - James Clear did an especially nice job in painting a picture of the time constraints we all deal with, and the realities attached to how and where we choose to allocate our energy in this article. This one reminded me a little bit of Randi
Zuckerberg's book, Pick Three.
- Rules for Effective Hiring — and Firing (Podcast) - Find me an established business owner who claims to have never had to terminate an employee, and I'll show you a liar. The reality is that we simply can't make the perfect hire 100% of the time,
and sometimes difficult firing conversations need to take place in order for the business to thrive moving forward. This podcast episode highlighted a number of useful strategies you can employ when having conversations of this nature.
- Consumers Are Nervous. Here's the Safety Checklist They Want to See - You're unlikely to find a gym-goer who believes that too many health and safety adjustments have been made in your facility. This article outlines the bare minimum
information you should be sharing with clients who are likely concerned with understanding your protocols moving forward. Let this checklist be your starting point.
- 4 Questions to Ask Yourself to Make Sure Your Brand Is Resonating - It seems that just about every time I host an Instagram Q&A I encounter a question surrounding whether or not it is a good idea to put your name on the business. I could be nudged in either direction on this
one, so my answer is typically an "it depends" with a slight lean toward "don't do it." This being said, the four questions in this pice would be a wonderful starting point as you entertain the idea of building a brand for your gym.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
