Thanks for opening up this edition of the Friday Four. Let's get things started by sharing a blog post from my own personal archives:
- The Practice - Lift Free & Diet Hard Podcast - I jumped on Andrew Coates' podcast to discuss our favorite takeaways from the new Godin book I shared a few weeks ago in the newsletter. We went deep on content creation, social media strategy, and
more.
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- Why Throwing Out the "Old Bananas" is Imperative to Your Success - This article spoke to me, as I have become the master of leaving unclosed loops when it comes to half-baking creative ideas and then walking away from them. These unaddressed objectives eat up space in the
"ideas" section of my daily to-do list, and I needed this reminder to begin chopping things away.
- Stories That Scale with Casey Graham (podcast) - This EntreLeadership podcast episode
reminded me a lot of The Power of Moments by Chip and Dan Heath. If you're looking for ideas on how to create experiences clients can't help but talk about, you might want to start here.
- How to Get Your Business Started on TikTok - I am admittedly not on TikTok, nor do I understand it at this point in time. This being said, I see that it is a growing platform, and know that it is worthy of consideration for most gym owners. This
article will give you a beginner's look at how to dive in on publishing content in this new format.
- Managing an Underperformer Who Thinks They’re Doing Great - I've been particularly fascinated by the topic of self-awareness in recent weeks since hearing on a podcast that 90% of the population believe themselves to be self-aware, while the
reality is that something in the 15% range is more accurate. This article from HBR gave me a framework for helping address productivity and contribution shortcomings with blissfully unaware employees.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
- Pete
