Thanks for opening up this edition of the Friday Four. Let's get things started by sharing a blog post from my own personal archives:
- The Most Important Decision You’ll Make for your Fitness Business - The most common question I've been asked in the past five or so years of publishing content has been how to go about identifying a potential business partner to replicate the dynamic Eric and
I have here at Cressey Sports Performance. This post touches on the topic.
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- The Practice: Shipping Creative Work (book) - I don't often drop book recommendations into my F4, but this new read from Seth Godin feels like an important one to share. I encourage you to read this if you're someone who waivers on publishing content because you either believe everything
has already been said by someone else, or because you don't have confidence that people are craving your message. As Godin says in the book, content creation is an act of generosity, and there is almost always someone out there who can derive value from your information.
- 1,000 True Fans? Try 100 - This blog post from the Andreesen Horowitz site makes a fascinating and compelling case for chasing your own 100 true fans as you build out an online brand. The key to making this jump, according to the author, is to deliver your "fans" the opportunity
to "derive meaningful value and purpose from the product."
- What Inclusive Leaders Sound Like - This piece opened my eyes to some pretty big blindspots in my leadership game, specifically as it relates to the words I choose when addressing my team. I found the section discussing novice versus expert communication styles to
be particularly useful when thinking about improving my presentation style moving forward.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
- Pete
