Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- What Really Makes Your Brand Stand Out to Customers - This was a surprisingly deep dive into the mechanics of brand design from the people at Entrepreneur. If your fitness business is still in its infancy, I would place significant emphasis on the second and third suggestions on this branding
strategy list.
- Biden Changes PPP Rules to Help America's Smallest Businesses - Hopefully I'm not the first person to put this recent shift to a more equitable distribution of federal funds on your radar. However, if I am the first to do so, you're in luck, as
you've got about ten days left to submit an application and find yourself pushed to the front of the line for review (assuming you employ less than 20 people). Make your move before March 10th to improve your chances to securing the assistance you need.
- Seth Godin: Failing On Our Way To Mastery (podcast) - I enjoy just about everything Seth Godin and Shane Parrish have to say, so listening to one interview the other was a special treat this week. If you're a fan of the long-form podcast, this one is for you. If you're more interested in just
the quick-hitters, do me a favor and at least listen to this one until around the 15-minute mark where Seth tells his bacon and brussels sprouts story. You wont regret it.
- A Simple Compliment Can Make a Big Difference - This approach to management has been my best tool in improving my ability to connect with employees in recent years. When a given team member seems particularly overwhelmed by recently heavy workload, a simple "you've really
been on top of your game recently" can be the difference between burnout and pushing forward until we make it to our quiet season.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
