Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- Apple at Work - The Underdogs - This fantastic three-minute video from Apple is a wonderful reminder that team-based content design should be collaborative, chaotic and creative. Give it a watch for a little bit of quick inspiration.
- How the Best Leaders Rethink and Unlearn What They Know - "Fast growth can promote a false sense of mastery." Man, does that sentence from this article resonate with me. We blew up pretty quickly here at CSP, often times attributing it to our greatness when in reality it
was also very much to do with first mover advantage. This Inc author got her hands on an advanced copy of Adam Grant's new book (Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don't Know) and was kind enough to share a summary that might prompt you to go out and pick one up for yourself.
- Niching Down vs. Embracing Range - Brett Bartholomew did a great job of clearly outlining the reasons for identifying and pursuing a niche in this episode of the Art of Coaching podcast. He also shared a detailed approach to mapping out the process and executing on it.
- Want Your Ad to Go Viral? Activate These Emotions. - I'm not one who believes we can consistently manufacture virality (hence my lack of viral posts), but I do believe that following certain guidelines can dramatically increase the likelihood of good material gaining
great traction. This was an interesting read from the Harvard Business Review.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
