Thanks for opening up this edition of the Friday Four. Let's get things started with a popular blog post from my own personal archives:
- 4 Things We Did Before Worrying About Brand Development - We managed to string together 293 days of operation at CSP before going live with a website. During that time, we coached 5,300 training sessions and onboarded 239 new clients. This article tells you how we pulled it off.
My Friday FOUR:
Four pieces of content I've consumed this past week that will influence my future blog material and challenge me to think differently about how I manage Cressey Sports Performance. As always, I'm looking to bring you some business-specific information from outside of the world of fitness. Enjoy:
- 5 Truths About Employee Engagement That No One Wants to Hear - This author shared the results of a Gallup engagement survey showing that 64% of employees are disengaged. I don't believe the figure to be quite so high in smaller organizations like my own, but I'm also not
too naive to realize that some degree of disengagement potentially exists in a team of 4 coaches in my space at any given time. There are some important reminders in this article.
- Real Estate: The Secret to Wealth for Gym Owners? (podcast) - Chris Cooper from Two Brain Radio makes a compelling case for purchasing your own building if you own a gym in this day and age. This podcast episode touches on the benefits of
investing in both commercial and residential real estate.
- You Own a Business, But Got a Golden Offer to Work for Someone Else. What Do You Do? - I have found that the better my work circumstances are, the more interesting professional opportunities seem to come my way. While I've yet to encounter a "golden offer" compelling enough for me to walk away from my own operation,
this is still a concept worth thinking through. Good stuff from the great Adam Bornstein in this Entrepreneur article.
- How to Get Anyone to Do Anything (podcast) - It's not often that I share multiple podcasts in my weekly newsletter, but these were two fantastic episodes that I had to pass your way. If you read Robert Cialdini's 1984 classic, Influence, you're going to love this interview with Steven
Levitt.
Make sure to let me know if you come across any material that you think I'd enjoy. More importantly, have a great weekend.
- Pete
